Although the above results hardly seen encouraging let us not forget the hard work and team spirit in which they were played - teams play worse and win! If we are to attain the high standard of the Old Boys Association in Hockey, as we eventually hope to do, we shall have to pay more attention to training and gaining a fuller understanding of the rules. Next term besides playing our traditional rivals, Finchley Grammar, we will be meeting some new opponents from the Royal Commercial Travellers School at Hatch End.

As one of the lesser played sports of the school, hockey is handicapped by many boys who, for some unknown reason, regard it as a game for girls. Anyone who plays hockey can assure you to the contrary as it requires speed and stamina to an extent that is not necessary in soccer. We would like to disprove Fr. Dominic’s statement during his Speech Day report that in this school hockey was there for the boys who cannot play other games - perhaps we shall be able to say, at some time in the future, that the other games are there for those who are not fit enough to play hockey!

Anyone sufficiently interested in the game as to want to play should submit their names to Fr. Aelred.
