April Fools Day

  Buckets, stink bombs and a stool
Cause many an April Fool,
Now and then it goes too far
And you have to hide from Pa.
Here he comes out of the house,
Looking wary as a mouse.
Stink bombs, buckets at the ready
Let him have it, good and steady!
Now it’s really time to run,
Now’s the end, of all our fun;
Everybody should agree
It was all an innocent spree.
Father said we've spoilt his shirt
So we washed off all the dirt;
Most of it, at least, we say,
Bread and milk for rest of day.
No more cash f or quite a time
Fancy, months without a dime!
Not so bad ‘cause Dad’s a sport
Got our cash back, we all thought,
Working one hour everyday
We were getting most of pay.
Next year’s stockpile soon will grow,
Better not with stink bombs though.
Next year’s missile deadly pea;
Roll on April sixty three!
