The Badminton Club

At the beginning of November, 1961 a new game started in the school BADMINTON. With a first class net and stands which have been very kindly supplied by Fr. Dominic, and racquets obtained by the Club, this highly energetic game is now played at dinner time and sometimes after school by over twenty members. The numbers have been limited so as to allow every member at least two games per week.

Unfortunately, the Club could only start off with two inexpensive racquets which have proved inadequate. But with two newly strung racquets, a singles "knock out" competition was started. The first two rounds have been played, but the remaining games have been postponed, until one of the two racquets is re strung. The stringing does not seem to stand up to the wear that it receives from playing every day! However, it is hoped to restart Badminton in the school as soon as possible.
