Run at Streatham on Saturday, March 3rd. 1962.

The above championships are promoted by the London Simmarian Club ex students of St. Mary's Training College, Strawberry Hill, and this year there were 34 schools competing in the Junior event, and 35 in the Senior. The courses are situated on Streatham Common and conditions are vastly, different from those experienced on our own courses. The Junior course is, of, 2½ miles and the Senior3½.

Weather and conditions were perfect for racing and the Juniors started away first. The course is so sited that one can observe the runners on many occasions and it was soon obvious that Handley was running very well up in the front, with Miller not far behind. With four to count out of a team of six runners, every place was of vital importance and vocal encouragement was given to the other runners as they passed by. How well they responded is shown by the final positions and the 5th. place gained in the overall positioning is a true reflection of a fine team effort. Well done, Juniors! This was the highest the School has been in this competition and we look forward to improving even further next year.

Team positions: Handley 4th. Miller 16th. O'Leary 39th. Kelly 57th. McDonald 59th. Doyle 140th.
Points total of the first four runners 116. Position 5th.

The Senior event followed, and again it was possible to observe the runners as they went round. Flockton was up with the leaders and maintained his position to finish 9th, which was very creditable indeed. Positioning of the other runners was lower than the juniors but all ran very well and the team finished 13th.

Team positions Flockton 9th. Kelly 70th. Clubbe – 77th. Dorling 113th. O'Shae 124th. Clifford 126th.
Points total of the first four runners 269. Position 13th.

Judge all these results by the number of schools competing and the number of runners some 204 in the Junior, and 210 in the Senior, and we realize how well all the boys ran. Congratulations!
