Middlesex Grammar School:
North West Group

For the first time for some years, the school took part in the Middlesex Grammar School Championships. Some 50 Grammar Schools in Middlesex take part in these championships, and to facilitate organisation, they are grouped into six regions. Each region holds its own championship, at which the winner and runner-up from each event go forward to represent their region at the finals meeting held at Chiswick.

The school belongs to the North West Group, which includes eight other schools besides ourselves. The meeting was held at Kingsbury County Grammar School, and though we finished last with 76½ pts., we were by no means disgraced. Madden came 2nd in the U.17 High Jump, and won the Long Jump for the same age group. Clubbe ran extremely well to finish second in the U.17 220 yds., O'Keeffe came 3rd in the U.15 100 yds., O'Leary filled the same place in U.15 440 yds., Woolmer came 5th in the U.15 Shot. Others taking part were Davis in the Junior High Jump, Shanahan in 100 yds. and Javelin Junior, Limbrey in the 220 yds., Senior. The relay team of Clubbe, Madden, O'Leary and O'Keeffe finished runners-up to St. Nicholas in the U.17 4 x 110 yds. relay. The U.13 relay team of Frost Welling, Wheeler and Gillespie came third in their event. We feel that these results are very encouraging and we look forward to next year's championship with confidence. From this meeting, Madden, Clubbe, and the U.17 relay team went forward to the Finals at Chiswick.
