Ski-ing

December 26th will see the departure of the 2nd School ski-ing expedition to Mels in Switzerland.

Early on in the year it seemed very unlikely to take place as the numbers were very slow in increasing. By augmenting our numbers with some sixth formers from St. Benedicts we have once more made the grade.

The last trip we made was a great success and I believe enjoyed to the full by every boy in the party. I am quite sure that, although we have only 3 of our own boys of last year's party coming again, all the newcomers will enjoy themselves as much.

Last year we had about 50 per cent of the party gaining their bronze medals. We hope this year the numbers will be increased.

When we were approaching our destination on our last trip there were some glum faces, for as far as you could see from the train there was no sign of snow. However, things were better when we reached the hotel where we found just sufficient for our needs. I know snow has already fallen near the hotel where we are staying, so perhaps this year the conditions will be better.

The welcome we receive on our arrival is extremely friendly and Herr and Frau Karlberer put themselves out a great deal to make our stay a happy and pleasant one.
