Saturday, 4th July was the day chosen for this year's Sports Day. It turned out to be quite a good choice as far as the weather was concerned, and the programme was completed without interruption. By way of an experiment, it was decided to hold the events in the morning as well as the afternoon, thereby spreading the events and allowing more time. It worked quite well, but it is questionable as to whether this is the ideal answer to the problem of getting through the programme in a reasonable time. This year the hurdles appeared on the programme for the first time, and during the course of the day, nine new records were established, and four existing ones equalled. Of the nine new records, three were on the track, and six in the field events. A complete list of the new records and the names of the winners appears at the end of this report, and whilst these take the limelight, let us not forget the others, without whom there would be no Sports Day and no new records. Space does not permit the printing of their names, but I hope that they will remember that the aim of the sports is to get as many of the boys as possible to participate. To have reached the finals is something to be proud of, and to represent one's House is a further honour indeed - Well done.

A very welcome addition to this year's sports was the tea stall staffed by the Old Salvatorians Association. A cup of tea is more than welcome at any time, and I know that many cups were gratefully received. This service was much appreciated and we are most grateful to the members of the O.S.A. who gave us their time to keep the kettle boiling throughout the day. Many thanks indeed.
The presentation of the prizes concluded yet another Salvatorian Sports Day with the House Shield being won, very deservedly, by Francis. A word of thanks to all the Staff and Parents who assisted with the recording, judging, etc., etc., and all those who gave their support and help in any way.
