Football Season 1964-65

For the first time the complete results are available for our readers. I think you will agree that they make for interesting reading and give a fair indication of the number and variety of matches played throughout the season. If one looks at the results as a whole it is possible to note steady progress.

The First XI broke even on their results but recorded a memorable victory over the OLD BOYS by 5 goals to 3. The Under 14's continued their victorious run in the local Cup competitions winning the David Watkin Shield and thus completing a hat-trick having won the Cox Shield and the Headstone Cup in previous years. The Under 12's reached the final of the Cox Shield but had to take second place to Blackwell who deservedly won by 2 goals to nil.

A number of the boys have played regularly for the District teams and to the familiar names of Murray and Dury (U.14's), Shanahan (U.15's) are added Shaw (U.14's), Cornish and Ryan (U.12's). It is also worth noting that 4 of last year's XI are now playing regularly for the Old Salvatorians Football Club. It must be the aim of the school to supply the needs of the Old Boys who now run 4 teams each week in the London Old Boys League. I hope that in the coming years many boys, on leaving school, will continue to play football with the Old Salvatorians F.C.

Becket won by a very narrow margin - by virtue of the fact that they scored 36 goals to Campion's 34. This was sufficient to give them the championship, since both have 19 goals scored against them, and both have 8 points.

Previous champions: House of Campion.
