A Look At Life

The flowing tide of life is either
As calm as a sheltered lake
Or as fast and dangerous as a mountain river.
The lake is calm and unruffled even by
The cooling breeze, in the arms of the towering mountains.

A stone drops unnoticed into the smooth water,
The ripples find their way into the nearing distance,
Only to be seen no more.

The lake is again calm and unruffled;
Until for the last time the stone falls,
And the ripples only cease
When life has had fulfilment,
And all is calm or troubled for eternity.
