Problem A carpenter, working with a circular saw, wishes to cut a wooden cube of side 3" into 27 1" cubes. He can do this obviously by making 6 cuts along the dotted lines. If he rearranges the pieces between cuts, can he achieve his end in fewer than 6 cuts? Written answers to the above questions should be handed in to John Sinclair, Graham Wilde or Peter Downey.
