School Pilgrimage To Lourdes 1965 - 1966
Once again it was my privilege to take a party from the School to Lourdes during the Easter
holiday. Our numbers this year showed a large increase on previous years, and in the 29 members,
there were three partially sighted and one blind boy, all from St. Vincents School for the
Blind, Liverpool, Fr. Norman Brown a blind priest, and Nicholas Biggs, a physically handicapped
boy from Ilford. Needless to say, we were very fortunate having all these people with us, as
they gave the boys a sense of responsibility, and awareness of the needs of others. Our fund in
the School towards the cost of taking a handicapped child to Lourdes, realized £80, and once
again I am very grateful to the boys for their continued support in this venture. May I ask any
one reading this, who might like to help, not to hesitate. Any donation would be most gratefully
accepted. You may not be able to go to Lourdes yourself, but you can help to send a handicapped
child, as your representative. Please help if you can.
The report of the pilgrimage has been written by one of the boys, and I hope that in reading it,
you will be able to share in some small way the School pilgrimage to Lourdes, undertaken in
response to the request of Our Lady to Bernadette: "Tell the people to come here in
procession".
