It has long been felt that the school should help senior boys to take an interest in the theatre, but until this year the cost of tickets and fares was rather more than most boys could afford to pay. The Minibus, so generously donated to the school by the Friends Association, has made it possible to charge a combined admission and transport fee at a price which boys can afford. The Group is also indebted to the Friends for a Drama float of £25 to enable us to buy blocks of tickets. This is invaluable, where bookings for theatres such as the National Theatre is concerned, for one has to book just when the tickets become available. It also enables the organisers to plan and book a whole term's programme at once.
The group is entirely voluntary, in the boys' own time and with the boys' own money. Although one or two boys have been on every trip, a comparatively larger number of boys have availed themselves of the opportunity of seeing two or three plays.
A word of thanks is due to Mr. Tufnell who has organised the programme, arranged the bookings and done most of the driving.
A list of the plays seen since the Group began its activities is appended herewith. Some of these are considered classics, but the intention is to introduce the boys to any kind of theatrical experience which is good of its kind.
