Football U15s Report

Last season was one of mixed feelings for the team. We had many wins but too many disappointing defeats especially against weak opposition. On the whole the season could be counted a success. We won the Local Schools Brady Cup Competition, after a close and exciting game with Blackwell by a 3-2 margin. After showing promise throughout the season we were a little disappointed, to lose in the Filmore Cup to Aylestone by 5-0, playing our worst game of the season, as the score suggests.

Mick Burke finished the season with over 30 goals, and Tom Geary was close behind with 25. In defence Joe Herson and Tony Feerick were outstanding.

Back: Cornish, Johnson, Herson, Mr J. Allen, Corcoran, Duffy, Burke.
Front: Finn, Feerick, Boyle (Capt), Geary, Clements.

The team was inconsistent in composition throughout the season due to illness, loss of form, and players being unavailable. As a result over 20 players were called upon to play. Nevertheless we had a number of memorable matches, a 2-0 victory over Harrow Weald, our arch rivals, and a 3-2 win over Greenford in the Grammar Schools Cup which went to extra time.

Our sincere thanks are given to manager/coach, Mr. J. Allen, whose advice and inspiration was often badly needed.

Record: P.29; W. 15; D.6; L.8; G.F.122; G.A.81.

M. Boyle (Captain)
