Geographical Society

The Geographical Society continues to flourish, this year it has burgeoned forth dramatically even in the lower forms.

The Society run closely in accordance with class syllabi has attempted several new enterprises. For the first time, this October, the First forms went on a field trip to the Flaunden area.

A week later the Sixth form went on a three day study of the Leith Hill region, enjoying the enthusiastic company of some of the students of St. Dominics' Sixth.

Projects proved to be an egregious success. The one on Incas, exhibited in the foyer as a prelude and complement to this years drama production "The Royal Hunt of the Sun", was completed by all age groups. Last term's project on the U.S.A. by form 2, was accomplished amidst a febrile fervour bordering upon an exquisite mania. Individual fieldwork was undertaken by the A-level group. Form 1G are currently working on a project based on primary commodities, which is to be exhibited in the Geography Room.

Other activities in full operation are: the Weather Station, simple surveying using equipment made by our ever helpful Mr. R. Whitaker of the Craft Department; and the Local Studies Survey of the School area.

The increase in attendance at the Monday and Thursday meetings of the Society augurs well for the future.
