U15s Cricket Report

Captain: C. Clubbe Vice Captain: M. Mathews

The cricket season has been an enjoyable and admirable one. It started badly with two of our first three games cancelled because of rain, but after that we had a successful season, both weatherwise and in the standard of cricket.

We took part in the Middlesex 20 overs cup and the 8-a-side cup. In the 20 overs we beat Greenford, Harrow County, and then Ealing. This brought us to the semi-finals, and a match against Hampton. For the last six years, this School has beaten us in semi-finals; they did it again. It was a very close game, but we lost by twenty runs. In the 8-a-side we beat Harrow Weald, Bourne, and Evelyins. This brought us to the Middlesex semi-finals in which we played, and lost to, Dormers Wells.

The most pleasing win of the season was when we beat the Staff by five runs. We batted first, and scored 103 for 9 declared against very good bowling ably led by Mr. Tufnell - the most successful bowler. The Staff batted very well, but the match was clinched when Tony Duffy bowled Mr. Shovelton. The Staff were all out for 98.

We must congratulate Noel Russell on being selected for the Middlesex Schools Team.

In the annual 1st XI single wicket competition both finalists were from the U 15s team; Tony Duffy beat Noel Russell by 9 runs.

I want to thank the whole team for turning out faithfully every Saturday morning, and for evening matches.

Games Played, 21; Won 13;
Drawn 8; Lost 4
