1st XI Cricket Report
On the face of it, this is a rather poor playing record; but the number of drawn and lost games is not representative of the team's play this year. Many of the lost games had close finishes, while in the drawn games we were generally in much the better position: better weather and better luck could have made the season's record a good deal more respectable.
During the season, the batting of two of the younger batsmen matured, with Flint, scoring most runs for the season and Clements playing a number of good innings. The fielding however, particularly the catching, was not up to the high standard of 1st XI cricket.
With the rise in the level at which the school is playing, next year's young side will have to work hard at their fielding, as well as their batting and bowing, to keep up the standard which other schools have come to expect from us.
