Basketball

For a number of years now basketball has been played in the School without much notable success. This year however the break through came with the U19 team who reached the semi-final of the County Championship. In this game our opponents were Ashford County G.S. who were to eventually win by 61 points to 55 after extra time.

At full time the score was 50-50, but in the extra period Ashford got the points necessary to take them through to the final against Enfield G.S.

However the team were not to be denied and reached the final of the London Catholic Schools Championship, a trophy they held from the previous year. Our opponents were Cardinal Wiseman School, Greenford, and after a very exciting game the score was 58-52 in our favour.

Peter Wismayer was once again chosen to play for England in the Catholic Students Games in Dublin from 8-15 August.

The U14's also reached the final of the Catholic Schools Competition but were beaten in the final by Cardinal Wiseman School.

The 3rd year team finished with a total of 286 points and were 81 points ahead of the runners up. Team members were: Philips, Walton-Smith, Fitzpatrick, Lyons, Ash, Sutherland, Walsh.

The 2nd year team members were: Hickey, Sheehan, McDonagh, Mulqueen, Daly, Becque, Bragoli.

P.S. The best wishes of all the boys go with Mr. Tony Brian who has been with the School two years on the P.E. and Craft Departments. He spent many hours in helping the boys and all wish him luck in his new teaching appointment in Bermuda.
