On the credit side they reached the 4th Round of the Ebdon and Tye Competitions and the quarter-final of the Middlesex Senior Schools Cup. Highbury Grove beat them 7-1 in the Tye, a defeat which was not so bad as the score might lead one to believe. St. Aloysius won the Ebdon game 2-1, and Bishopshalt knocked the Senior Schools hopes, by winning 2-0.
A new venture this year was the League Competition organised by the Senior Schools and after playing 20 league games, winning 9, drawing 4, losing 7 and totalling 22pts, we finished in 9th position. A league competition certainly added an extra interest to the normal fixture list and I am certain that it was a good move.
Moat Mount School were added to the normal fixture list and, apart from schools already mentioned, Barnhill, Aylestone and St. Thomas More were new opponents in cup fixtures.
Many of the lads played regularly on a Saturday afternoon for the Old Salvatorians, and it was unfortunate that it was impossible to arrange the annual fixture with the Old Boys this year.
Fitzgerald finished the season as the top goalscorer with 30 goals and the following also added
their contribution: Feerick 20, Mellon 16, Boyle 12, Geary 11, Matthews 10. From all the lads
many consistent displays throughout the season.
