Designed as a project in a magazine: -
parts will be available over the next few months. (starting at the beginning of March)

System cost :- £200 - 250
Up to £100 initially for basic materials with a further £100 for final purchase of the main components, which plug into system 68.

Our aim is to construct system 68 over the next 4 - 5 months as details of the design are published each month, obtaining parts from suppliers and carrying out assembly. We have a case suitable for the machine and hope to provide a "television-type" display for it, with a typewriter keyboard in addition.

Basic System

A powerful microcomputer for use in the school. System 68 is extremely flexible and may easily be adapted for any application; for example:-

the memory may be increased if greater capacity is required.

Also small 'calculator-size' key-boards and displays may be used to communicate with the machine from remote areas of the building (laboratories, stage. etc.)

Applications-:-

As a general-purpose computer it can process data from the Mathematics Department and the Science Laboratories. It may be used for accounting and planning timetables, with the capability of forming records (from the Library or other departments) on cassette tape.

The system would be versatile enough to be applied to lighting control for the Drama Department.

It would provide a facility for the students to gain experience with computers as a preparation for University. Programmes may be written to permit a large number of applications.

As a development system it may be tailor-made to fit the school's requirements.
