Middx. Schools U 15 Cup Final
Salvatorian College v Christ's College, Finchley
Friday, 4th July at Harrow C C

The final was played on a wet wicket in front of a small but enthusiastic group of staff and supporters. After being put in we got off to a slow but steady start. Paul Hunter and Kurt Jansen then started to pick up singles and ran well between the wickets. This partnership was broken in the 13th over when Kurt was caught after he had launched himself into the attack. At this point we had scored 53 which provided a solid base for the rest of the side. Skipper Paul Cartmell was caught before scoring but Paul Hunter was now going well. Runs were still difficult to find until Ciaran Hassett hit 2 6's in his fast 22. Justin Daley attacked the bowling to score 15 which meant that we reached a creditable 123 - 6 in our 25 overs.

The Christ's College innings got off to a good start but a brilliant piece of fielding by Jeremy Davis ran out their opening bat, the wicket being thrown down from midwicket. A few balls later Mark Swyny ran out the other opener. Good bowling from Paul Hunter and Jo Seimon, backed up by excellent catching and fielding reduced Christ's College to 10 - 4 in 8 overs. A recovery was then staged but Adrian West and Paul Hunter both took 3 wickets and their innings finished when Paul Cartmell took the final catch. They only managed to score 60.

This was an excellent win based on good batting and bowling with excellent fielding. It seemed that every time they hit the ball in the air we caught it. This gave Salvatorian our first victory in a Middx. Competition. Hunter, Seimon and Wizbek have all been chosen to play for Middlesex U 15s.
