Hockey

The first team to fall victim was Finchley C H S. Playing away against much older stronger opposition we escaped with a 2-1 victory, goals coming from Tony O'Brien and Andy Davis, also D'Costa made some miraculous saves in goal.

The week after we played a hard fought draw with Gunnersbury; chances were few, but Monaghan scored the first from a long, run and the second from a rebound from a shot from Baxter. We were unfortunate to be drawn against Upton House in the cup. Leading somewhat miraculously by 2 - 1 with seven minutes to go, Upton House scored 3 quick goals and ran out 4 - 2 winners; our goals were scored by Monaghan and Ryan. There was a new experience for the team when playing on an all-weather pitch in a tournament in Southall. Results were abominable, we lost 6 - 0 to Hounslow Manor, 5 - 0 to Cardinal Manning, but only 0 - 1 to Villiers, having failed to put many chances away.

Just before Christmas we played in an indoor tournament at Harrow Leisure Centre. We lost the first three matches to good opposition 0 - 1, 0 - 2 and 1 - 2. The next evening we picked ourselves up, playing 5 good matches drawing 2 - 2 with Gunnersbury, beating Cardinal Manning 2 - 1, Harrow 3 - 1, drawing 1 - 1 with Finchley and losing o - 2 to (***name missing***). Scorers were Allman 7 and Ryan 2. We would have done better, but the Captain specialised in missing penalty strokes and penalty corners.

After Christmas we played another match against Finchley. We were again very lucky to win 2 - 1, Monaghan scoring both.

In our last two matches, we lost 4 - 0 to Harrow Tech. in pouring rain, and then lost 4 - 0 to Westminster, a much stronger side.

Last of all I would like to thank everyone who has played this season.

Tim Allman (Capt), Mark Baxter, Antonio Hernandez, Richard Daly, Cunningham, Andrew D'Costa, Andrew Davis, Andrew Campbell, Tony O'Brien, John Monaghan, Paul Ryan, Steve Boni, Anton Philpott.

Thanks are also extended to Mr Ralleigh who umpired and who managed the side.

Tim Allman 5B

In the text an "Allman" is mentioned then in the score table an "Aleman" is mentioned.
It's not clear of these are two players or is it a spelling mistake, either in the text or the scoretable?
