1969 Charity 5-a-Side
Supplied By Barry Lynch
I was having a beer with Tony Doolan and he showed me this photo. I thought a few of the guys might be interested.

We played a 5-a-side game for Charity from 9 am Good Friday 'til 9 am Saturday. Not sure who took the photo but they waited for me to look down before taking it!

There were some interesting characters from our year (1965-1972) but also Tom Geary and Mick Loftus from the year above - amazingly Mick Loftus played after an evening in the Duke of Edinburgh. Unfortunately he had very limited vision at the best of times but after a few pints ... He clattered into Michael Morgan who is in the front row being consoled by Adrian Arpino in a slightly Brideshead Revisted pose?

There was also Ron Hays, John Casey, Kevin Purcell (RIP), Tony Duffy, Kevin Wilson and Tony Doolan among others.

Most of us played football anyway and we had a game on the Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock and Sunday at 11.00! Probably those school lunches kept us fit!

From what I remember it was good fun even though after 24 hours it must have looked like the march of the zombies!

Think this became a regular event for a few years but may have petered out?
