My experiences of him (Monty) were always of someone 'firm but fair'. The best of these involved a chap called Mr Chattleborough (does no-one else remember him?). The story started just after Mr C had been made head of physics.

Our group was issued with a stopwatch for an experiment, but it was broken so we took it back. Mr Bramwell sent us (Leslie Piechowski and me) out to see Mr C in the storeroom to get it changed. However Cheeseburger said it had been working when issued and that we must have broken it, and because I protested, I had broken it and must pay to have it repaired. Fortunately Les P had a relative in the watch trade ...
