Mr Raleigh (Walter to some of us with limited imagination) taught British Politics and some related disease (can't remember what exactly) he was also famous for being an ex-Indian international hockey player. Only bought him limited kudos' though as most of us didn't understand hockey.

From what I remember, when provoked, he was capable of going quite wild and belting anyone unfortunate enough to be within his range, whether guilty or not. Needless to say, he was provoked as often as possible to expose this very entertaining (as long as you were out of range) display of temper.
